The Hawley Company is a leading bicycle parts and accessories distributor in the United States. Located in Lexington SC since 1986,
our annual catalog features more than 17,000 items produced by over 200 manufacturers from around the world. We sell to accounts
in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and many of the Caribbean islands. Our growth and success is the result of our commitment
to offer the best possible customer service to the independent bicycle retailers. We offer same day shipping, competitive pricing,
a group/kit program, and online ordering. With our special freight credit programs, we can ship anywhere in the continental United
States in as little as 2 days. We also support the bicycle industry through our involvement with advocacy programs such as Bikes
Belong Coalition, The Bicycle Council, and many other national and local groups.
The Hawley family history in the bicycle business began in 1964 when Bobby and Barbara Hawley opened a bicycle shop in
Fayetteville, North Carolina. With the help of their four sons, the business expanded into 3 stores during the early 1980s. In 1982,
Steve Hawley decided to pursue an idea generated by his father, and started a new venture called Collegiate Originals. After securing a
number of college logo licenses, he began marketing juvenile bicycles with the colors and logos of the major universities located in
the southeast.
These unique and innovative college bikes were an instant hit, thus providing an opportunity to enter the wholesale distribution side
of the bicycle industry. Almost immediately customers began requesting parts and accessories. In 1986, the decision was made to
focus on the future potential of the parts and accessories side of the business. The name was changed to The Hawley Company,
and we began to grow as a small regional distributor. By the mid 1990s we had established ourselves as one of the top regional
distributors in the country, and moved into our current 60,000 square foot office/warehouse facility. We have continued to grow over
the past years by adding more product lines, enhancing our catalog, offering on-line ordering, and creating special freight programs
for West Coast accounts. Today, these enhancements and our continued focus on customer service have propelled our business
to a nationwide service area.
